9/5/2023 0 Comments Sampletank ipad![]() ![]() I agree with Richard about it being surprising that more keyboardists are not using the iPad. I did create three velocity layers though so it uses 18 samples overall. The Wurli EXS instrument I created uses multi samples but only one per octave. You can use sampler instruments that use one sample for each key but you need to use Redmatica's GB Sample Manager on a Mac to load it on to the iPad (and before that the EXS24 through Logic or Mainstage to put the sample instrument together if you want to create the EXS instrument from scratch). I might try this at some point by trying to get the sequencer on my keyboard to play different parts on different channels. It has four parts but I'm not sure whether each is assigned it's own midi channel. You can only play one sound at a time with GarageBand for iPad with a midi keyboard so you wouldn't be able to do the organ and Wurli thing. And virtually all of my favorite keyboard sounds are ESX24 samples. But I'm maybe getting into a band situation, and I'd prefer not to drag my MacBook Pro to gigs. I use an iPad to play backing tracks and display lyrics when I do solo gigs. but you get a better screen than any synth out there, and you get a detachable device that can browse the web, play games, launch apps, listen to music, watch videos and movies, take pictures and video, and on and on. I mean, you could buy a decent MIDI keyboard controller, an adaptor, some software, and an iPad for a little under a grand, which is low end synth pricing. I'm a little surprised that there aren't more keyboardists doing stuff with the iPad. ![]() I'm sure that SampleTank can do better than that. And someone was speculating that it was because GB is a full recording/sequencing program and they probably have conservative settings in the background. I dunno, but I read a thread here where folks were talking about only being able to get 7 note polyphony out of the Rhodes on GarageBand on the iPad. ![]()
